Rodriguez joined the Angels select staff in 2012. He played his high school baseball in Gallup, N.M. before moving on to play college baseball at McMurry University in Abilene, Texas. His senior year in 2000, he helped the Indians to a 25-13 overall record.

Rodriguez lives in San Antonio with his wife Lorrie, and the couple has two daughters: Ava and Iley.
